When You Only Read the Headline . . .

Sending criticism as a response after only reading the first sentence or two of an email does not endear you to the sender. And it also wastes everyone’s time at least two-fold:

  • It tempts the recipient to ignore you for the rest of the day.
  • You have to spend your time apologizing for your abrupt (and very likely inaccurate) response. That’s assuming you do apologize, of course.

(And, no, “I was in a hurry” is not a valid reason.)
